Anodized Aluminum, Unmatched Durability
Anodized aluminum offers excellent value by providing long-term durability and corrosion resistance, significantly reducing the need for frequent replacements and maintenance costs for custom nameplates, badges, emblems, front panels, overlays, bezels and functional components. Unlike many other materials, it effectively withstands UV radiation, scratches, and chemical exposure, over extended periods of time, ensuring your branding and production identification remains intact and legible under harsh conditions. Commonly used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, industrial, electronics, and consumer goods, anodized aluminum enhances both the functionality and appearance of your products
Anodized Aluminum, What Is It?
Anodized aluminum is aluminum that has undergone an electrochemical process to form a protective oxide layer on its surface, which enhances its durability and resistance to corrosion. Anodising makes it an excellent material for products such as badges, emblems, nameplates, tags, and bezels, ensuring they maintain their appearance and functionality even in harshest environments. If your nameplate will be outdoors for extended periods then anodising is a necessity. The anodizing process involves immersing the aluminum in an acid electrolyte bath and passing an electric current through it, which forms the anodic oxide layer. This layer can be dyed in various colors and provides a hard, durable finish, which saves costs over the long run because it reduces the need for frequent replacements due to its longevity and robust nature. Unlike other materials, anodized aluminum effectively addresses issues such as UV radiation, scratches, and chemical exposure, making it ideal for demanding applications in industries like aerospace, automotive, electronics, and consumer goods
Anodized Aluminum Specifications
Finishes
Matte – non-reflective with flat finish Satin – lustrous semi-reflective finish Brushed – resembles a stainless steel finish Gloss – highly reflective, mirror-like
Thickness
Fully custom options are available, but commonly utilized sizes are: .003″, .005″, .008″, .012″, .020″, .032″, .063″, .090″, .125″
Graphic Application
Screen printing, stenciling, digital imaging, and offset printing are used to selectively apply color to the material, while a uniform coat of dye can be used to add color over the entire sheet. Custom graphics are added to the anodic layer using oxidation for longevity.
Anodized Aluminum Colors
Anodized aluminum is available in various colors, including clear, black, blue, red, green, gold, and bronze, offering customization options to suit your needs. However, for badges and nameplates exposed to outdoor conditions for extended periods, colored anodizing is typically not recommended as it may fade over time. Black anodized aluminum is the best choice for outdoor use due to its superior UV resistance and durability, ensuring your badges and nameplates maintain their appearance and functionality.
